What is Almanac?

Almanac is a web directory: a hand-kept index of websites, filed by subject account and reviewed against a plain set of criteria. It is not a search engine and it does not rank results. Entries appear in the order they were accepted, and the catalogue is maintained by hand each period.

Is it free to list my site?

Yes. Submission has always been free and will remain so. There is no paid tier, no featured placement, and no advertising in the directory. An entry either meets the criteria or it does not; money does not change that determination.

How are sites organised?

The directory is divided into 22 subject accounts, ranging from automotive traders and dental clinics to technology companies and travel services. Within each account, entries are filed alphabetically by domain. A site is assigned to the account that best describes its primary subject.

How do I submit a site?

Use the submission form on this page. Select the account that fits your site, enter the URL, and supply a plain description of what the site does. The entry will be reviewed and, if it meets the criteria, filed under the chosen account. You will not be asked for payment at any point.

How long until my submission appears?

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. An accepted entry is typically filed within a few days of submission. If your site does not appear after a reasonable period, verify that the URL you submitted is live and that the description you provided is accurate.

What are the listing criteria?

Three things are required: the site must be live and reachable, the description supplied at submission must be plainly worded and accurate, and the submission must be made in good faith. Sites that meet these criteria are filed; those that do not are declined without further correspondence.

Does Almanac endorse the sites it lists?

No. The catalogue is a record of addresses, not a set of recommendations. Almanac does not audit the quality, safety, or accuracy of any listed site. The reader is asked to exercise their own judgement before acting on any entry.

Can I update my entry?

Yes. If your URL, description, or account placement needs correcting, use the submission form to send a note with your domain and the required change. Updates are applied at the next review cycle.

What happens if my site goes offline?

The catalogue is checked each period. Entries that are unreachable, that have changed their subject matter, or whose descriptions have become inaccurate are quietly removed. If your site is taken down temporarily, it may be withdrawn and can be resubmitted once it is live again.

How many entries does the directory hold?

The Almanac currently holds 833 entries across 22 subject accounts. The number changes each period as new submissions are accepted and inactive entries are removed. The General Listings account is the largest, followed by Online Casinos & Sportsbooks and Healthcare Providers & Clinics.
